In May we supported the Broughton Cycling Group with their 3rd Cycling Sportive. It was the second time we have supported them at this amazing event.
The BCG was founded during summer 2013 by a group of neighbours who wanted the opportunity to get to know one another, build community spirit and get fit at the same time. We started off by just getting on the bikes and having a go, covering small distance rides, to begin with, and gradually improving our distance and speed. With this in mind, they are the ideal community for us to collaborate with.
The day starts with the 200 riders setting off on the ride of either 50miles or 75miles. Once all Riders are on their way we start to set up their family fun day.
The Fun day is for everyone in the community and completely free to attend, we had a climbing wall, exotic animals, circus skills and inflatables. There are also a number of family games Chess, Jenga, Table Football and connect Four to name but a few!
Some Families brought a picnic and others chose to eat from one of the Food Vans available. Some people enjoyed a beverage from our bar in the afternoon.
Riders start to come back and spend time with Friends and Families, it really was a great day and to know that the event raised nearly £3000 for charity makes it feel really worthwhile!
So keep the second Sunday in May free and come along and enjoy the day too. You don’t need to ride to participate
